Nashville recording artists, the Colmus
Family or as they've been called in the past, the Cosmos Family, the Clomus Family, the Comatosed Family, the Coleman
Family and the Culumn Family, and yes, those are all names they have been called. We're not making this stuff up. It's
COLMUS. It's simple and easy to pronounce. If you need help, here's a guide...COLE-Muss. That should clear it
all up. The Colmus Family began as the Colmus Sisters
and Gospel Country. They began touring in the early 80's. In 1995, the group changed their name to the Colmus Family.
This family band from Michigan/Kentucky still
tours the United States and Canada with their brand of Christian Country music. Their rich family harmonies and solid musicianship
are strong foundations to their music ministry.
The
Colmus Family is not a southern gospel group or bluegrass group. Nothing wrong with those styles but they are a Christian
Country band. They call it country music with a JESUS kick. Mix up some Buck Owens, Brad Paisley, Travis Tritt and George
Strait. Then toss in some Oak Ridge Boys, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride and Rodney Atkins and then throw in a positive
message and you have their style. They play their own instruments live and do not use backing tapes.
The Colmus Family is Edith Colmus Hunt, Lois Colmus Blount, Richard Hunt and Todd
Hunt. Edith plays keyboards and sings lead vocals and harmony. Edith's husband, Richard, plays bass and sings lead vocals.
Their son, Todd, plays lead guitar, mandolin, dobro and sings lead and harmony. Edith's sister, Lois, plays rhythm guitar
and sings harmony.
The Colmus Family DOES NOT represent any
religious denomination or organization, only CHRIST. The songs that they play and sing are their message.
Their latest CD is entitled "Washed Clean." It features 10 songs(5
originals and 5 covers).
